Looks like Focus EV will only be delivered in NY & CA this year, probably in small numbers. Rest of the "initial launch" states will see the cars only in Spring of 2012.
For the first few months of production, we will be concentrating on California and New York. Our dealers in those areas will be the first to have their retail orders scheduled and receive the Focus Electric. We will be rolling out to the remainder of our initial markets starting in Spring 2012, including Raleigh/Durham.

This won't be the first time EVs have been delayed, though. Nissan had just ceremonial deliveries in December of last year and small number of deliveries in Jan & Feb, including my Blue Leaf towards Feb end.
Also explains the flyers being sent saying launching in '12 Spring, as some have reported.
I hope this doesn't mean a delay in launching Ford Energi.

ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! I read that the base price for the Focus EV wil lbe around $39k though which may be a tad high given the economy and unemployment figures. Perhaps there should be a bare bones base model without any of the bells and whistles and tech features? EV buyers will have more options now though with the Focus, which is a good thing!

The good thing with the focus electric is that it only got delayed for a few more months before it was released last spring. Compare that to the supposed "new ford escape hybrid" that eventually went into oblivion.
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case, maybe I need to decide now before I visit a nissan dealer long island near my place. Still hesitant which to buy, these two have been the best recommended models of my dad.

ReplyDeleteJust lookung at it makes me wanna call my long island car dealers to save me a unit of this Ford Focus. I heard that it is as good as the Nissan leaf, they only differ with some specs and features.

Since manufacturing of Ford EV has been delayed, I still have time to have all the necessary papers needed by Novated Leasing Perth. I will have all the papers needed be ready as soon as possible.
